On April 30, a meeting of the working group of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy on improving the seed, nursery and plant variety system and protection of rights to plant varieties was held.
Olexandr Demidov and Yulia Prokhoda participated in the meeting from the public organization “Ukrainian Plant Breeding and Seed Association”.
Discussed:
the state of functioning of the electronic system of registers in the field of plant growing “e-plant growing”. The system has not yet fully worked, we expect further development.
the issue of field evaluation of first-generation hybrids of cross-pollinated crops. In the absence of official descriptions of parental components, field evaluation is impossible.
Yulia Prokhoda proposed a draft of amendments to the Seed Certification Procedure: cases when the results of soil control of seeds used for sowing are not required; procedure for issuing OECD certificates.
Olexander Demidov presented the recently registered public association “Ukrainian Seed Breeding Association”, introduced the members of the board: himself as the chairman of the board, Yulia Prokhoda and Myroslav Pariya – deputy chairmen of the board, and also outlined the main mission of the Association.
The date of the first General Meeting of the Association was also announced.
